We have many British friends now living in Crete and to help satisfy their nostalgic cravings the White Lady serves a traditional roast lunch every Sunday. The Sunday roast menu is served from 13:00 onwards. To book your table, click the RESERVATION link in the Menubar above.

White Lady Specials

Kleftiko

Kleftiko

Kleftiko is lamb cooked in a paper parcel. Kleftis in Greek means a thief, bandit or brigand, so you can guess that originally the lamb was taken illegally by the brigands who lived in the mountainous areas of Greece - of which there are many. In order to remove the evidence of the theft they used to cook the lamb more or less immediately wrapping the meat in the lamb skin. Nowadays we use oiled greaseproof paper to wrap the lamb. It is absolutely delicious. Wrapping the lamb in oiled paper ensures that none of the flavours and juices escape in the cooking process, the meat is extremely tender and generally falls off the bone when you start to eat it. Full_English

A full English breakfast is one of the Webmaster's favourite nostalgia trips. The picture shows tinned tomatoes and tinned mushrooms (it is a "stock" photograph). We use only fresh tomatoes and fresh mushrooms for the full English breakfast. We do sometimes have tinned tomatoes available for those who would prefer them. Unfortunately Black Pudding is not easy to get in Crete.
